The article deals with the problems and prospects of socio-economic development of Russia and China in the era of globalization. Despite differences in political structures and economic models of the two countries, both countries are striving to upgrade their economies. On the one hand they borrow the scientific and technological achievements of economically developed countries, on the other - they are doing their best to create their own unique designs.
An important point in the process of involvement of Russia and China into the globalizing world is their desire to preserve their own cultural and national identity.

The paper presents an analysis of Sino-Russian bilateral relations over the last 20 years. The author points to the evolution of the positions of both Moscow and Beijing. At the beginning of the 1990s they both approached each other with caution. Today they are developing a full-fledged strategic partnership and coordination of their policy on the international scene. However their partnership is not an easy one because each country is doing her best to protect its national interests.

In May 2011 the XII-th conference of Africanists has been hold at the Institute of African Studies. Its subject was «Africa in the epoch of changing of world paradigm».
Our magazine is publishing a report of that event, which has brought together experts in various fields of the humanities - from economists and political scientists to anthropologists and ecologists. Participants have presented the results of their latest researches and made a series of projections of future development of the Black Continent.

It is difficult to speak about the Egyptian revolution which took place January 25 of 2011 without mentioning the revolution in Tunisia. The magazine publishes an article by A. Al-Sabah, who was in Tunisia and Egypt in the period of revolutions over there as a political observer and reporter of the Russian Arabic-speaking television channel “Russia al-Yaum”.

There are many other parallels, making South African experience interesting for our country.
All members of the BRICS, demonstrate a wide range of approaches to innovation. Innovative strategies have different starting points, allocated resources, and choice of priorities, timing, expectations, and the degree of public support.

Due to globalization large international companies increasingly locate their production in different countries. Thus they are supposed to adapt to different economic, social and cultural conditions of those countries. The conflict between the delocalization, which the companies are forced to resort to in the context of globalization, on the one hand and the need to operate in specific local circumstances - on the other, has given birth to a new term to describe this phenomenon - glocalization. Glocalization means that in today’s global economy, companies must think globally but act locally. The article dwells upon the nuances of global management training, especially training of Japanese managerial staff for working in the Chinese branches.

In the XXI c. the problems of extremism and separatism in India are still acute. A group of seven states in Northeast India has become a traditional hotbed of instability. Assam, Manipur and Nagaland as the most troubled states in the past decade.
The author concludes that it is a failure to resolve various conflicts, contradictions between local ethnic groups, economic problems and weak monitoring of borders with neighboring countries which leads to increased terrorist activity and preservation of separatist groups in the region.

RUSSIANS IN CHINA by Yu.I.Gutin

Over the last decades dozens of scientific and analytical work on Russian emigration and its descendants now living in different countries have been published. However, there is almost no publication on such an interesting and unique phenomenon as a contemporary Russian Diaspora in China.
Our magazine attempted to fill this gap. In this issue we are publishing an article, the author of which draws attention to the fact that both Chinese scientific journals and the media in general are paying great attention to the Russian citizens of China. They are officially recognized as one of 55 national minorities, and their lives, custozms, and religion, socio-political and cultural activity are well covered.

The author notes that the Tunisian masters, acquainted with the various Western trends in art and drawing inspiration from the deep roots of national traditions create really original works. One of the most important elements of such traditions is weaving of carpets and rugs.
