Abstract:

The development of the Chinese regions since the beginning of the implementation of the “reform and openness” policy was focused on maximizing the use of the environmental potential for the implementation of modernization transformations during the reform years. In the beginning of the 20th century of particular importance in China is the concept of sustainable development as a result of the growth of disproportionate phenomena in the spatial organization of the Chinese economy and the gradual deterioration of the environmental situation as a whole in China.

The approaches of Chinese scientists to the development of the concept of sustainable development were formed in four main areas: sociological (Mao Zhifeng, Niu Wenyuan, Cheng Jicheng, Shen Yumin), systemic (Cai Lin, Shi Shixin), economic (Duan Xuejun, Liu Li, Pan Jiahua) and environmental (Ye Wenhu, Liu Peitong, Qian Yi, Shao Jianping). Since the 1990s The implementation of the sustainable development strategy in the PRC was directly related to the solution of the main problem in China, namely, the uneven development of the regions of the PRC. Chinese experience in ensuring environmental sustainable development of the regions has been forming since the 1990s. China focuses on solving one of the main problems - environmental, aggravation, which was associated with the consequences of modernization processes in the course of economic growth and increased pressure on the environment in China.

The Chinese state defines the goals and key provisions in the field of environmental protection, correlating them with the concept of sustainable development. China carries out a series of major studies and makes recommendations on the implementation of environmental sustainable development of the regions. This was of great importance for protecting the environment, maintaining public health and promoting the economic growth of China in the new millennium.
